Chapter 20

Maria

Maria had called Tyrone and broke to news to him that she was now carrying his child. Although he denied getting her pregnant, he still wanted to see the proof. She agreed to meet him for breakfast so that they could discuss the situation. She was already up and dressed ready to go. Before she left her condo, she picked up the piece of paper with her pregnancy test results, and folded it neatly before placing it in her pure.

She grabbed her keys and left the house. Inside her car, she nervously anticipated what Tyrone was going to do to her when she tells him that she’d tricked him into getting her pregnant. From his tone of voice over the phone, she knew that he wasn’t pleased with her already and he even sated that he wanted nothing more to do with her.

When Maria got to the little Mexican restaurant on the corner of Washington Blvd, she grabbed her purse, got out of car, and locked her doors. She didn’t see Tyrone’s car outside yet, so she rushed inside to find and empty table. Inside of the restaurant, she made her way to the back and slid into a small corner booth. As she sat at the table, she tried to come up with something to threaten him with if he chose not to cooperate with her.

Her legs were nervously shaking and her palms were sweaty. She took her hand and wiped her forehead just as she spotted Tyrone’s car pulling into the lot.

Get it together, Maria. Here he comes. She coached herself.

Tyrone got out of his car and slammed the door shut. The look on his face was enough to scare the shit out of anyone. His long legs stomped towards the restaurant. He busted through the door, looking around for her like a mad man.

All of a sudden, Maria wanted to slide down on the floor underneath the table and hide.

He spotted her then sprung over to her table in a fiery rage. He stepped up to her table then stuffed himself in the booth beside her.

He put his finger in her face, and then he unlashed the beast within. “Bitch, you must be one psychotic motherfucker. The fuck you trying to do to me, huh, Maria? You know good and well we used condoms. I’ve always used a rubber with yo trashy ass. What? You think I didn’t know you were a whore before I let you swallow my babies that night after the game? I knew exactly who you were and how you get down. But, this is by far the lowest shit a bitch has ever tried to pull on me. What you want now, huh? Some money? Here.” Tyrone pulled a stack of one hundred dollar bills out of his right pocket and forcefully threw it in her face.

“I know this baby is yours, Tyrone, so you can say whatever you want. You just make sure I get what I ask for or I’m taking this to the media,” she said, slamming the piece of paper down on the table top.
